Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles, right, and John Cook, executive director of the Kentucky Department of Agriculture’s Office for Consumer and Environmental Protection, delivered donated foods to God’s Pantry of Lexington and interim executive director Ame Sweetall on Wednesday.

The Kentucky Department of Agriculture delivered over 3,232 pounds of food donated by KDA employees during a department-wide food drive in December. The donated food was delivered to God’s Pantry of Lexington on Wednesday.

The food drive was an extension of the Hunger Initiative that Commissioner Ryan Quarles launched in June to look for ways to reduce food insecurity in Kentucky.

L&W Equipment of Lawrenceburg and Community Trust Bank made matching donations, enough for approximately 2,693 meals.
