GLI announces winners of Silver Fleur-de-Lis awards

Airport, Muhammad Ali Life Celebration to be honored

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Jan. 4, 2017) — Greater Louisville Inc. will honor two groups with the Silver Fleur-de-Lis at its annual meeting on Jan. 25.

imgres-4The Silver Fleur-de-Lis was created by GLI to recognize outstanding commitments and achievements over the past year in making the Louisville community a better place in which to live and work.

Awards:

Louisville Regional Airport Authority

  • Completed major terminal renovations and secured more nonstop destinations in 2016.  Louisville International Airport Terminal is the front door to the Greater Louisville region. The terminal’s new modern, streamlined redesign, featuring local businesses and other unique qualities of our region, demonstrates that Greater Louisville is a wonderful place to live, play, and work. The additional nonstop flights, added in 2016, make the airport and the region more convenient for people to conduct business.

Muhammad Ali Life Celebration

  • The Muhammad Ali Center, along with Boxcar PR, the Louisville Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, the Mayor’s Office, LMPD, KFC YUM! Center, and the Kentucky Fair & Expo Center will be recognized for their leadership and coordination of the celebration. The passing of Muhammad Ali in June of 2016 turned international attention to Louisville. The seamless work of every agency listed above made our city rise to the occasion. Muhammad Ali’s life was marked by greatness. The ability of this year’s honorees to capture his legacy in just a week’s time will be a sterling chapter in the region’s history for generations to come.
