Gov. Bevin makes appointments to Kentucky Board of Hairdressers and Cosmetologists

Three appointments named

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Feb. 1, 2017) — Gov. Matt Bevin has made the appointments to Kentucky Board of Hairdressers and Cosmetologists.

Appointments:

  • Jani Crouch Highley, of Mount Sterling, is lead cosmetologist instructor at Employment Solutions. Highley will serve for a term expiring Feb. 1, 2019. She will be representing cosmetology salon owners.
  • Jeanetta Thornbury, of Paintsville, is a hairdresser at South Eastern Beauty Salon. Thornbury will serve for a term expiring Feb. 1, 2019. She will be representing cosmetology school owners.
  • Regina Kay Swanner, of East Bernstadt, is a cosmetology instructor at Somerset Community College. Swanner will serve for a term expiring Feb. 1, 2019. She will be representing cosmetology teachers.

The board is made up of five gubernatorial appointees. It conducts periodic inspections of beauty salons and beauty schools in assigned areas, determines whether each individual and business has the required license, investigates complaints regarding individuals without a license or in violation of the law, and inspects premises of salons and schools to determine compliance with sanitary standards and physical requirements as established by the board.
