Three Rupp Arena basketball goals to be auctioned off

Bidding open through Feb. 27

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 6, 2017) — Three basketball goals used in Rupp Arena from 2000-2016 will be sold during an auction that runs through 4 p.m. on Feb. 27. Goals will be available for inspection from 2-3 p.m. on Feb. 10 and Feb. 17, behind Rupp Arena at the service entrance.

image001The BPI Model 10,000 goals were used on Rupp Arena’s legendary “Caywood’s Court” from the 2000-01 basketball season through 2015-16. Both the home bench and visitor bench goals are included along with an auxiliary goal.

In addition to UK games the goals were used during four NCAA Mens’ and Womens’ Tournament games, four NBA preseason games and 16 KHSAA Sweet 16 Tournaments.

The goals will be sold as a group or individually, whichever results in the highest price. Bids should declare the amount offered for each of the goals individually and an aggregate amount offered for all three. Bids must include a deposit equal to 33 percent of the amount of the bid and payable to the Lexington Center Corporation by certified or cashier’s check.  The successful bidder will be required to remove all purchased equipment and pay the balance of the bid by March 10.
