LEXINGTON (March 10, 2017) – Dinsmore & Shohl’s Drew B. Millar has received the Volunteer of the Year for his work with the Carol Martin Gatton Beaumont YMCA in Lexington.
Millar has been involved with the C.M. Gatton Beaumont YMCA for over 10 years and joined the branch board in 2015. He works with the youth sports program and helps with fundraising. The Central Kentucky YMCA has six locations that offer many programs including summer camps, after-school activities and swim lessons. The Y provides more than $1 million in financial aid to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.
“The YMCA has been a wonderful thing for our family and provides great programs and services to tens of thousands of people in Central Kentucky,” stated Millar.
At Dinsmore, Millar is a member of the Labor and Employment Department and focuses his practice on the representation of both public and private employers in issues related to the workplace. He has significant experience in handling wage and hour matters, including both misclassification disputes and minimum wage/overtime issues.
He has represented a wide variety of clients, including retailers, health care organizations and information technology companies in cases brought by the U.S. Department of Labor, as well as a number of state labor boards. He also has handled a number of collective and class action cases in the wage and hour arena, where he relies on his thorough understanding of the nuances of the law to find favorable results for clients.
Millar earned his J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law. He received his B.A. Brigham Young University.
