Kentucky Writers’ Day Celebration set for May 1

Guide released for community events

FRANKFORT, Ky. (March 31, 2017) — The Kentucky Writers’ Day Celebration will be held on May 1 in Frankfort. The Kentucky Arts Council has created a planning guide for recognizing the event in other communities.

The guide is downloadable from the arts council website and is full of helpful ideas about how schools, libraries, businesses, colleges and universities and other organizations can celebrate Writers’ Day locally.

Kentucky Writers’ Day begins at 10 a.m. at the Old State Capitol, 300 W. Broadway St. in Frankfort, and will include the installation of the 2017-2018 Kentucky Poet Laureate as well as readings by past poets laureate. There will be a reception at 11 a.m. The event is open to the public.
