Ribbon-Cutting, Open House for the renovation of the Caroline Memorial Community Center set for April 25

LEXINGTON (April 19, 2017) – The YMCA of Central Kentucky invites the community to a Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and Open House 3:30-5 p.m. Tuesday, April 25 at the newly renovated Caroline Memorial Community Center, located at 220 East Maple Street in Nicholasville.

The ribbon cutting and program will begin at 4 p.m.

“We’ve listened to the community and are excited to bring innovative programming and activities to address the needs of this community,” said Vice President of Youth Development Jessica Berry. “Although we will have a wide range of programming for all ages, we feel it’s important for all children to have an outlet to play and learn as well as participate in meaningful activities to inspire motivation and the ability to succeed.”

The renovation includes a complete remodel of the interior of the building, with new classrooms and open space for community programming. The Coolidge Foundation donated $200,000 along with an additional investment from the Y and other donors to help renovate the center.

“We are very grateful to the Coolidge Foundation who made it possible to bring new life and more opportunities to the Caroline Memorial Community Center to support this community,” said President and Chief Executive Officer David Martorano.

The center will be managed and operated by the YMCA of Central Kentucky. The hours of the operation and programming for the center are still being finalized by the Y. The Hayden Company, a construction company based in Nicholasville, performed the renovations.
