HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University has named former Local 12 anchor Anna Townsend Wright director of public relations, effective April 19. Wright was the co-anchor of “Good Morning Cincinnati” from 2005-09.
Wright joins NKU from Dinsmore & Shohl LLP, where she served as the media relations manager. She created and executed the public relations plan and managed the media relations team for Cincinnati’s largest law firm.
“I’m thrilled to join the NKU marketing and communications team,” Wright said. “There’s a lot of momentum as we approach our 50th anniversary. The university has an outstanding story to tell about where we’ve come from and where we’re heading. We have a presidential transition coming up, the 125th anniversary of our Chase College of Law, the opening of our Health Innovation Center, the launch of our Honors College, our continued ascension in the Horizon League and Division I athletics. It’s an exciting time for NKU.”
“Anna’s extensive public relations experience combined with her years behind the news anchor desk have prepared her well for this role,” said Gina Rittinger, NKU assistant vice president for marketing and communications. “Her vision and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to grow and tell our story both regionally and beyond.”
Prior to her tenure at Dinsmore, Wright served as an event and project manager at Ethicon Endo Surgery. She spent 10 years in television news working as a news anchor and reporter, most recently at WRKC-TV. She also worked for news stations in Missouri and Nebraska.
Wright received her bachelor of journalism from the University of Missouri.
