LOUISVILLE (May 2, 2017) – Festival fans can get a special preview of this week’s parade at the Republic Bank Pegasus Parade Preview Party on Tuesday, May 2 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in South Wing C.
2017 marks the 62nd annual parade, which will feature approximately 100 units marching down Broadway on Thursday, May 4.
Each parade float and inflatable will be on display, complete with costumed characters, as well as equestrian units. Stage performances from local dance groups will also be featured. A special area showcasing education will include The Alley Theater Arts Caravan, which will be giving away books to support literacy and the Louisville Free Public Library. The theme of this year’s parade is “Louisville On the Move.”
“This year’s theme is twofold with both a health focus, as well as a nod to how the city continues to grow and progress,” said Mike Berry, KDF President & CEO. “There are many different ways to depict ‘Louisville on the Move’ and we look forward to seeing all the creative and original designs.”
The 2017 Parade will feature 11 equestrian units, 13 floats, including 1 push float, 11 marching bands, 16 specialty units and 6 inflatable character balloons.
