Kentucky Horse Park Commission adopts new strategic plan and sets goals

square-logo2_4LEXINGTON (May 11, 2017) – The Kentucky Horse Park Commission today announced a new strategic plan for the Kentucky Horse Park, which included five goals. The plan was approved and adopted at the commission’s April 20 meeting.

“The strategic plan will serve as a valuable tool to engage both the commission members and the staff of the Kentucky Horse Park in becoming committed to measurable goals and establishing priorities for the park,” said Tandy Patrick, chair of the Kentucky Horse Park Commission.

The overview of the new strategic plan is as follows:

Mission: The mission of the Kentucky Horse Park is to celebrate the history of our relationship with the horse through education, exhibition, engagement and competition.

 Vision: KHP will be the premier event venue for equestrians and those who love and want to learn more about horses and man’s relationship with the horse. At the Kentucky Horse Park, visitors and exhibitors will have diverse opportunities to engage with, learn about and be enchanted by the beauty, strength and spirit of the horse.

Values: All KHP operations shall be compliant with federal and state regulations and shall adhere to all accounting requirements and financial best practices.

• The health, safety and welfare of the equines entrusted to our care are of primary importance.

• Wise land use shall protect the green space and natural beauty of the KHP.

• Hospitality and exceptional guest service shall be the hallmarks of interactions with visitors and exhibitors.

Organize and Design

GOAL 1: Review, revise and then implement a Master Land Use, Development and Maintenance Plan for the Kentucky Horse Park.

Engage and Educate

GOAL 2: Diversify, intensify and expand the visitor and exhibitor experience.

Market and Celebrate

GOAL 3: Creatively link public and private sectors to market the KHP and its brand.

Connect and Nourish

GOAL 4: Enhance the collaboration of the public and private sectors in support of a plan to sustainably finance the KHP.

Clarify and Simplify

GOAL 5: Review and revise as needed operational policies and the organizational structure to maximize the efficiency, effectiveness, and sustainability of the KHP
