Boston chemical company considering $89M expansion in Carrollton

searchFRANKFORT, Ky. (May 25, 2017) ‚ÄĒ The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority today gave preliminary approval to Cabot Corporation, a Boston-based manufacturer of chemicals and performance materials, for a proposed¬†$89 million expansion in Carrollton that would create 32 jobs.

Cabot produces fumed silica, a performance additive for a variety of applications, including adhesives, composites, coatings and silicone elastomers.

Cabot is considering several locations, including Carrollton, for a new manufacturing plant. The $89 million expansion would include more than $65 million for equipment, $21 million for building and improvements and $2.5 million for start-up costs.
