Gateway Community & Technical College recognizes outstanding workforce partners

FLORENCE, Ky. (June 1, 2017) — Gateway Community & Technical College Workforce Solutions recognized exemplary partners for their contributions to Gateway at the Workforce Solutions Awards ceremony today.

Gateway Workforce Solutions and the Testing Center partner with over 1,300 companies and serve almost 20,000 individuals every year with testing services or customized short-term training and degree programs.

“It is always my pleasure and honor to recognize our partners who invest so much in Gateway programs, students and their own employees,” said Carissa Schutzman, vice president of Workforce Solutions. “We appreciate their commitment and contributions.”

The award for outstanding use of KCTCS TRAINS Funding to Invest in Employee Development went to the Safran Landing Systems and Continental Building Products. Both companies implemented strategic programs to strengthen the skills of individual employees while enhancing the competitiveness of the organizations.

Perfetti Van Melle USA was recognized for Comprehensive Investment in Employee Development. Perfetti’s commitment to the full spectrum of recruitment, retention, and development through long-term engagement strategies is strengthening the Northern Kentucky community.

The award for Creatively Investing in Employee Development, Hiring, Retention, and Promotion went to Tente Casters and North American Stainless. While Tente has focused on empowering and engaging associates through a unique series of courses, North American Stainless has continued collaboration with the Testing Center to maximize the effectiveness of their hiring process.

The Kenton County Airport Board (CVG) was recognized for Initiating and Successfully Implementing an Apprenticeship Program in partnership with Gateway. Building upon their well-established college certificate program, the Kenton County Airport Board is committed to investing in their current workforce by continually growing their skills.

Recognition for Vision and Commitment to Strengthening the Region’s Through Innovative New Program Development went to Robert Bosch Automotive Steering, Cengage Learning, DHL eCommerce, DHL Express, LeanCor Supply Chain Group, Legion Logistics, LLC., and Perfetti Van Melle. These seven companies provided excellent work experiences and monthly mentor sessions for our pilot group of twenty high school seniors in the Northern Kentucky Logistics High School Dual Credit Co-op Program.

Debby Shipp, vice president of Business Growth and International Affairs for the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce was presented the Premier Workforce Partner Award for her extensive support of and collaboration with Gateway.
