Kentucky Chamber President and CEO Dave Adkisson and Vice President of Public Affairs Ashli Watts on Tuesday presented Kentucky Senate President Robert Stivers with the Chamber MVP Award.
President Stivers has always been a strong friend to the Chamber and the business community and this was never more evident than in the historic 2017 legislative session.
“Senate President Stivers has consistently been a strong advocate for the business community. Under his leadership, the Senate had passed Chamber priorities such as right-to-work, repeal of the prevailing wage, medical review panels and charter schools for many years,” Adkisson said. “We appreciated his leadership as these bills finally saw passage during the 2017 legislative session. As a small token of our appreciation, we are presenting him with a Chamber MVP award to recognize his support of pro-business policies in such a historic session.”
In addition to monitoring the progress of bills that directly relate to the strength of the commonwealth’s business community, the Chamber tracks how each legislator votes on these bills. The Chamber’s MVP award recipients displayed more than just a business-friendly voting record, but also went out of their way, and at times across party lines, to support or oppose an issue critical to the business climate in Kentucky.
