FRANKFORT, Ky. (Aug. 16, 2017) — The Kentucky Arts Council is accepting applications for the Architectural Artists Directory through Sept. 15.

Participation in the directory is intended for artists whose work is constructed as an integral part of a room, building, outdoor space or other structure. Examples include cabinetry, murals, light fixtures, sinks and stained-glass windows.

Artists in the directory are frequently sought by architects or people who are building homes or business owners who want to add creative elements to the overall design of their spaces.

Sculptor Julie Warren Conn of Lexington said being in the directory has helped her network with other architectural artists throughout the state.

“It’s important for artists to be connected to each other and through the Architectural Artists Directory. Tthe Kentucky Arts Council does a good job of putting us together, presenting us fairly and promoting us,” Conn said. “The arts council is an organization that presents artists very professionally.”

“The Architectural Artists Directory is a significant way that we can recognize excellence among artists whose work enhances architectural elements and design,” said Lydia Bailey Brown, arts council executive director. “It represents a broad cross-section of talent and artistic disciplines from artists across the commonwealth.”
