LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 1, 2017) — Shawn Rogers has been named the new director of the Bluegrass Small Business Development Center.

As a veteran in the economic and small business development fields, Rogers brings over 14 years of experience into her new role. Her experience includes roles as an executive staff advisor at the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development’s Office of Entrepreneurship, vice president of New Markets Tax Credit and senior business development specialist, for Community Ventures Corporation.

Rogers is no stranger to the Bluegrass Small Business Development Center; she was previously a senior management consultant and assistant director at the center.

Most recently Rogers was the special programs coordinator at the Kentucky Small Business Development Center state office.

“The entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well in the Bluegrass Region. The region has a vibrant, robust business community that nurtures entrepreneurs and small businesses. I look forward to supporting the growth and development of established and startup businesses,” Rogers said.

In addition to her business and economic development experience, Rogers has industry experience in furniture manufacturing, specialty retailing and the craft industry. Her expertise includes financial analysis, strategic and business planning, and capital formation.

“I look forward to building upon the great work of the Bluegrass SBDC by expanding our presence in the region with a customer focused approach,” she said.
