Gov. Bevin makes appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Oct. 31, 2017) – Gov. Matt Bevin has made the following appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions:

Sundeep Dronawat, Barry Eveland, Robert Devin Hudson, Darren K. West and Kristel Simon Smith have been appointed to the Commission on Small Business Advocacy.

• Dr. Sundeep Dronawat, of Prospect, is an entrepreneur. He will represent the 4th Congressional District and serve for a term expiring August 22, 2020.
• Barry Eveland, of Hanson, is president of Rocket Oil Company. He will represent the 1st Congressional District and serve for a term expiring August 22, 2021.
• Robert Devin Hudson, of Villa Hills, is an attorney. He will represent the 4th Congressional District and serve for a term expiring August 22, 2021.
• Darren K. West, of Barbourville, is self-employed. He will represent the 5th Congressional District and serve for a term expiring August 22, 2021.
• Kristel Simon Smith, of Frankfort, is executive director of Eastern Kentucky University’s Innovation & Commercialization Center. She will represent the 6th Congressional District and serve for a term expiring August 22, 2020.

The Commission on Small Business Advocacy promotes a cooperative and constructive relationship between state agencies and the small business community to ensure coordination and implementation of statewide strategies that benefit small business in the Commonwealth.

Melanie Driscoll and Frances Yvonne Bartley have been appointed to the Breast Cancer Research and Education Trust Fund Board.

• Dr. Melanie Driscoll, of Simpsonville, is an audiologist. She will represent citizens and serve for a term expiring October 24, 2021.
• Frances Yvonne Bartley, of Glasgow, is a retired teacher. She will represent breast cancer survivors and serve for a term expiring October 24, 2021.

The Breast Cancer Research and Education Trust Fund was established in 2005 as a means to further enhance Kentucky’s efforts to reduce the incidence and mortality rate of breast cancer in our state. Its Board consists of nine members, two of whom are appointed by the Governor. The Board administers and develops a written plan for the expenditure of the trust funds and any recommendations for future initiatives or actions regarding breast cancer research, education, awareness, treatment and screening.

Faron Blakeman has been appointed to the Kentucky Licensing Board for Specialists in Hearing Instruments.

• Faron Blakeman, of Campbellsville, is a hearing instrument specialist. He will represent specialists in hearing instruments and serve for a term expiring July 31, 2018.

The Kentucky Licensing Board for Specialists in Hearing Instruments regulates and controls the licensing, conduct and operation of hearing instruments within the commonwealth.
