Norton Healthcare names chief operating officer

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Oct. 30, 2017) — Michael W. Gough, has been appointed executive vice president and chief operating officer of Norton Healthcare. He had been executive vice president of operations and chief financial officer. With this change in title, Gough will lead Norton Healthcare’s operations, while maintaining oversight of financial operations. This appointment formalizes his role as the second highest-ranking executive in Norton Healthcare.

Gough joined Norton Healthcare in July 2000 as vice president of finance and was appointed chief financial officer in September 2003. Prior to joining Norton Healthcare, he was chief financial officer at Caritas Health Services, and held various financial leadership positions with Humana hospitals in Louisville, Tennessee and Alabama. Gough began his career in health care in 1977 as a patient care attendant at what was then known as Suburban Hospital.
