Gov. Bevin makes appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Nov. 13, 2017) – Gov. Matt Bevin has made the following appointments to Kentucky Boards and Commissions:

William Wootson Farmer, John Stephenson Gillig, Elizabeth Anne Combs, Julian Andrew Bond, Lauren D. Palmer, Gary D. McCollum, DeAnna L. Brangers and Andrew J. Cole have been appointed to the Kentucky Commission on Community Volunteerism and Service.

  • William Wootson Farmer, of Lexington, is president/CEO of United Way of the Bluegrass. He will serve for a term expiring January 3, 2019.
  • John Stephenson Gillig, of Frankfort, is public policy chairperson for the Kentucky Alliance of YMCAs. He will serve for a term expiring January 3, 2019.
  • Elizabeth Anne Combs, of Lexington, is an attorney with Wilkes & McHugh. She will serve for a term expiring January 3, 2020.
  • Julian Andrew Bond, of Frankfort, is the GEAR UP Kentucky program coordinator for the Council on Postsecondary Education. He will serve for a term expiring January 3, 2020.
  • Lauren D. Palmer, of Verona, is College of Education Supervisor at Northern Kentucky University. She will serve for a term expiring January 3, 2020.
  • Gary D. McCollum, of Lexington, is assistant general counsel for Alliance Coal. He will serve for a term expiring January 3, 2020.
  • DeAnna L. Brangers, of Prospect, is a homemaker. She will serve for a term expiring January 3, 2020.
  • Andrew J. Cole, of Crestview Hills, is the director of campus ministry at Thomas Moore College. He will serve for a term expiring January 3, 2020.

The Kentucky Commission on Community Volunteerism and Service provides statewide strategic planning to enable citizens to address serious social problems through service to local communities. The Commission oversees and submits Kentucky’s annual applications to the Corporation for National Service and other funding sources for the continuation and expansion of the Kentucky Service Initiative.
