MURRAY, Ky. (Nov. 15, 2017) — Murray State University’s Center for Telecommunications Systems Management and Small Business Development Center are joining the Technology Council of West Kentucky to help grow and develop the technology industry in Western Kentucky.

The Technology Council of West Kentucky is a nonprofit organization that seeks to create support for the region by building a unified catalyst for the growth and influence of western Kentucky’s technology industry, focusing on the four pillars of unifying, advocating, growing and connecting. The Center for Telecommunications Systems Management and the Small Business Development Center will support each pillar and be a valuable resource for the council.

Michael Ramage is the director of the Center for Telecommunications Systems Management and serves as the president for the Technology Council of West Kentucky, while Chris Wooldridge, director of the Small Business Development Center, is a board member on the council.

Ramage’s guidance and knowledge of higher education in the IT workforce will ensure that the council will make education an important component of its efforts to grow the industry. Wooldridge’s background with small businesses and regional outreach will also aid in achieving the council’s goals of connecting and growing the region.

“The Center for Telecommunications Systems Management will be working closely with the Technology Council of West Kentucky and businesses to provide current and future students with the educational opportunities and resources needed to succeed in the competitive IT workforce,” Ramage said. “There is a need for a technology council in west Kentucky. This council will improve collaboration and work to address any challenges within the region’s technology industry.”

The telecommunications systems management program is the award-winning Program of Distinction at Murray State and is designed to focus on network infrastructure in the rapidly growing technology industry, providing students a solid foundation in information systems technologies and the application of those technologies in a business environment.
