WASHINGTON (Nov. 29, 2017) – The National Trust for Historic Preservation has announced that Linda Bruckheimer, American novelist, photographer, entrepreneur, and preservationist, has been elected to the National Trust’s Board of Trustees.
New trustees were elected during the opening plenary of this year’s PastForward National Preservation Conference in Chicago.
Linda Bruckheimer, two-time bestselling author, previously served on both the National Trust Board of Trustees as well as the Board of the LA Conservancy. She has worked to protect and restore many historic buildings in Bloomfield, Ky. as well as Los Angeles and Ojai, Calif. Linda and her husband Jerry have established, through the National Trust, the Linda and Jerry Bruckheimer Kentucky Preservation Fund which supports the preservation of historic buildings, communities, and landscapes in the state of Kentucky.
“For more than two decades Linda has dedicated her time and energy to preserving, protecting, and advocating for historic places,” said Stephanie Meeks, president and CEO of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. “She has been honored for the work she has done in her home state of Kentucky, tirelessly protecting the historical places that make it unique. We are excited to see the passion and energy that Linda brings, and know that her skills will help us to tell the story of important historic places all across the country.”
Linda Bruckheimer, along with fellow newly elected-trustees, Samuel Dixon and Christina Lee Brown, are joining the ranks of prominent board members including former first lady Laura Bush, former U.S. ambassador to Poland Victor Ashe, bestselling author Lisa See, and former editor-in-chief of Time Inc. Martha Nelson. The board of trustees is chaired by Timothy Whalen, director of the Getty Conservation Institute in Los Angeles. Linda lives with her husband, television and film producer Jerry Bruckheimer, in Los Angeles. For her record of service in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Linda was honored with a doctorate degree by Centre College in Danville. In May of 2017, Linda was honored with the Memorial Award from the Ida Lee Willis Memorial Foundation for outstanding dedication to the cause of historic preservation in the commonwealth.
