Former executive director of the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission dies

Lisa Underwood Young, former executive director of the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission, died at home of a heart attack Dec. 9. She was 57.

Underwood was a prominent attorney specializing in data privacy and security at the Lexington office of Wyatt Tarrant & Combs. She served as executive director of the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission for five years and was instrumental in hiring its first medical director, launching historical race wagering and Kentucky Breeders Incentive Fund, and helping to facilitate the process of drug-testing racehorses.  For more on this story, please go to BloodHorse.com.
