FRANKFORT, Ky. (Jan. 16, 2018) – Gov. Bevin has officially proclaimed Jan. 21-27 Kentucky School Choice Week, joining dozens of governors and hundreds of city and county leaders nationwide in issuing similar proclamations.

In Kentucky, 495 events have been independently planned to celebrate school choice and raise awareness during National School Choice Week. More than 32,000 events, including rallies, roundtable discussions, coffeehouse meet-ups, festivals, and school fairs, will take place nationwide.

“Kentucky parents, like parents everywhere, want what’s best for their children, and what’s more important than finding the school or educational setting that’s the best fit for their unique needs and skills?” said Andrew Campanella, president of National School Choice Week. “We’re excited that Gov. Bevin has issued this proclamation. We hope parents will start conversations about what type of educational options they have, or want to have, for their children.”

Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent, nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child. Through thousands of independently planned events across the country, National School Choice Week raises public awareness of all types of educational choices available to children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.
