March 11 set for Capital Plaza Tower implosion

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Jan. 30, 2018) — Finance and Administration Cabinet Secretary William M. Landrum III today announced the Capital Plaza Tower implosion will be March 11 at 1:30 p.m.

CRM/D.W. Wilburn #2 LLC, the development and construction team for the Capital Plaza Complex redevelopment project, has contracted with Controlled Demolition, Inc. (CDI) for the demolition. CDI has more than 60 years of experience and a range of demolition projects around the world.

The Finance Cabinet, CRM, and D.W. Wilburn have already had preliminary discussions with the city, local law enforcement and emergency services. All entities will ensure that coordination is a top priority.

As more details become available, meetings will be arranged with local businesses, community organizations and residents.

A new informational website, capitalplaza.ky.gov, will go live within the next two weeks.
