Beaver Dam Rest Area grand opening scheduled for Friday

FRANKFORT, Ky. (March 14, 2018) —  The formal grand opening of the Beaver Dam Rest Area is scheduled for 2 p.m. Central Time on Friday, March 16, Finance and Administration Cabinet Secretary William M. Landrum III announced today.

“The Beaver Dam Rest Area is now an updated and modern oasis for those traveling in the beautiful Bluegrass State,” said Landrum. “We’ve heard from people across the state about how happy they’ll be when the Beaver Dam rest area finally reopens. We are proud to partner with Martin and Bayley, Inc., the operators of the rest area, for many years to come.”

Martin and Bayley, Inc., of Carmi, Ill., will operate the convenience rest area under the HUCK’s brand name. They have a 20-year contract with the commonwealth to renovate, fit up, reconstruct, operate and maintain general merchandise and fuel service operations. The company operates more than 120 convenience stores in a five state area.

“As the only commercial rest area in Kentucky, this 24/7 facility will be available to more than 10,000 travelers who drive through this section of the Western Kentucky Parkway each day,” said Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Secretary Greg Thomas. “We’re glad to offer a safe haven with expanded services to drivers who have grown fond of this popular stopping point over the years.”

“We look forward to our partnership with the Commonwealth of Kentucky for the next 20 years,” said Jim Whetstone, VP of real estate for Martin and Bayley, Inc. “We are ready to serve a whole new group of customers in the western Kentucky area, both locals and those just traveling through.”

HUCK’S is a convenience store that customers have come to count on for clean restrooms and guaranteed fueling destination. The Beaver Dam oasis will operate 24/7/365. Travelers will have access to fresh food items such as Godfather’s Pizza, HUCK’S Famous Fried Chicken, Grill Zone, and more.
