AppHarvest announces key hires, stacking the bench with Kentuckians

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (March 18, 2018) — AppHarvest has announced key hires that will be leading efforts in Eastern Kentucky.

AppHarvest CEO Jonathan Webb said, “Our team is filling up with passionate Kentuckians that want to make the eastern part of our state the high-tech greenhouse capital of U.S. Seth was apart of the original team to stand up the first Chinese manufacturing company in Kentucky. Sydney has been in LA working with some of the world’s top innovators. We saw Ramel’s passion on display when hit the basketball court for Kentucky. All three of the these folks are going to bring incredible energy and dedication to the AppHarvest family.”

Kentuckian Seth David Norat assumes role as chief operating officer. Norat helped China-based industrial equipment manufacturer Shandong Borun Process Industrial set up their U.S. headquarters, Birtley Industrial Equipment, in his home state of Kentucky. Norat lived in China for four years and was an operations officer with the U.S.-China Energy Cooperation Program (ECP), where he coordinated business operations and communications between the ECP Management Board, Executive Committee, and U.S. Government officials. Norat is a Kentucky native and received his bachelor’s degree from the College of Charleston.

Kentuckian Sydney Fulkerson takes on the role of chief design officer. Fulkerson worked as design director directly for Founder/Chairman of the XPRIZE Foundation and Executive Founder of Singularity University, Peter Diamandis. Fulkerson crowd-funded The Coffee Run: And Other Internship Need-to-Knows during her senior year of college (Dec 2014). Her book has been featured in The Huffington Post, The Today Show, Grant Cardone TV, Product Hunt, Bustle, and others. Fulkerson received her undergraduate degree in merchandising and business administration from the University of Kentucky.

Brooklyn native and honorary Kentuckian Ramel Bradley joins the team as community director. Bradley is a former starting point guard for the University of Kentucky, the winningest program in college basketball. Ramel played basketball professionally in Europe and the Middle East for nine years, with stops in Croatia, France, Israel, and Turkey. Now he is bringing his extensive leadership, motivational, and team building skills to AppHarvest. Bradley completed his degree in community, communications & leadership development from the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment at the University of Kentucky.
