Keeneland selects Connie Van Onselder as chief financial officer

Connie Van Onselder has been selected as the new vice president and chief financial officer at Keeneland.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (August 3, 2012) — Connie Van Onselder has been selected as Keeneland’s new vice president and chief financial officer of Keeneland, beginning Aug. 27.

“Connie will be an outstanding addition to the Keeneland team,” said Bill Thomason, president-elect of the Keeneland Association, who will assume CEO duties on September 1. “Connie came highly recommended from people whose opinion we greatly respect. When we interviewed her, she clearly stood out among the other candidates. Her experience is second-to-none, and I believe she will fit in seamlessly with our current management team. We look forward to adding her expertise to the Keeneland family.”

Previously, Van Onselder was CFO of Lexington-based Unified Trust Company, serving as chief financial officer for both Unified Financial Services, Inc. and Unified Trust Company since September 2010. Before joining Unified Financial Services, Van Onselder was the finance director for CAPTRUST Financial Advisors and CFO of Critical Health Systems, both located in Raleigh, N.C.

Van Onselder began her career with a four-year tenure in the tax and audit departments at Ernst & Whinney (now Ernst & Young). Van Onselder holds a CPA license in both North Carolina and Kentucky.

Van Onselder graduated Summa Cum Laude from Albion College with a B.A. in Economics and Management. A native of Battle Creek, Mich., she spent 26 years in Raleigh, N.C. before relocating to Lexington. She and her husband, Robert, have four children — Jessica Hale Tesh; Stephanie Hale; Brooke Van Onselder and Andrew Van Onselder.
