Ephraim McDowell Health President/CEO to speak at national conference

DANVILLE, Ky. (Jan. 20, 2012) – Once again, Ephraim McDowell Health is front and center at a national conference. Vicki A. Darnell, president and CEO of Ephraim McDowell Health will be featured at the 2012 American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) national conference in Boston, Mass. Darnell will address the health care executives on the importance of succession planning at the March 23, 2012 gathering.

Recognized for her vision on succession planning, following the publication of her white paper by B.E. Smith, a national executive health care leadership firm, Darnell’s speech will focus on the critical strategy of growing internal talent. She will reinforce the importance of succession planning throughout all levels of organizational management, explaining how the process works at Ephraim McDowell Health, pointing out benefits and measuring success.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to present at the AONE conference in March,” said Darnell. “This opportunity would not have been possible if not for the excellent board of directors at each of our two hospitals who recognize the value of developing internal talent.”

The mission of AONE is to shape health care through innovative and expert nursing leadership. The American Association of Nurse Executives, a subsidiary of the American Hospital Association, has been providing leadership and professional development to advance nursing and patient care since 1967.
