Dr. Kenneth Mook new medical director at Gateway Rehabilitation Hospital in Northern Kentucky

FLORENCE – Kenneth Mook, MD, PhD, has joined Gateway Rehabilitation Hospital in Florence, Ky., as medical director.

Mook is a board-certified physiatrist, which is a physician who specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation. He focuses on restoring the health and functional abilities of people who suffer acute illness or injury, such as stroke, spinal cord injuries, joint replacement, amputations, spasticity management, cerebral palsy, orthopedic trauma and sports injuries.

In his role as medical director, Mook advances effective physical medicine and rehabilitation therapies and greatly enhances the hospital’s ability to deliver the best possible patient care and return patients to their highest level of independent functioning.

Having served in a leadership capacity for many medical rehabilitation programs in Kentucky and Indiana, Mook brings extensive experience to Gateway. Since 1999, Mook has served on faculty for the University of Louisville and has been PM&R residency program director since 2004. Mook also serves as an associate clinical professor in the Department of Neurologic Surgery, Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, University of Louisville School of Medicine.

A graduate of the University of Louisville School of Medicine, Mook completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Frazier Rehabilitation Institute. In addition to being an active member of many professional organizations, he serves as an oral board examiner for the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Additionally, Mook has a PhD in physiology with an emphasis in electrical stimulation for muscle strengthening.
