LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Jan. 19, 2012) — Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield and Norton Healthcare today announced the extension of Anthem health care coverage for those using Norton Healthcare facilities through to the end of January, 2015. This extension comes well in advance of the October, 2012 end date of the current agreement. Terms of the agreement extension were not disclosed.

“We have moved proactively to ensure that Norton Healthcare patients who are covered by Anthem insurance will have no interruption of service,” said Steve Williams, president and CEO, Norton Healthcare. “Both organizations have put meeting the health care needs of Louisville residents first. Our collaboration has yielded a positive outcome in a very timely manner.”

“We are pleased to work cooperatively with Norton Healthcare to provide our members with access and continuity to quality health care providers,” said Deb Moessner, president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Kentucky.

This agreement covers all Norton Healthcare facilities and employed physicians. Anthem members enrolled in Blue Access/Access (PPO), Blue Preferred/Preferred (HMO), Blue Traditional/Traditional or Medicare Advantage HMO/PPO will continue to receive covered services from Norton Healthcare at the highest level of benefits, with limited out of pocket costs.
