Life Adventure Center announces new board member

The Rev. L. Rodney Bennett

VERSAILLES, Ky. (May 18, 2018) — Life Adventure Center has added the Rev. L. Rodney Bennett as the newest board of trustees member.

Bennett is a youth advocate and professional promoting social justice and Christian discipline through education and empowerment. He strives to utilize his gifts and talents in a business, education and instructional capacity for training and strategic development to create a synergistic environment.

During Bennett’s 20-year career with the Kentucky Department of Education, he has been a champion for youth achievement. His current role as resource manager in the Division of Student Attendance, Health, and Transportation, affords him the opportunity to assist school districts to positively impact absenteeism and truancy through coaching, training and mentoring.

Bennett has served as the pastor of Second Baptist Church in May’s Lick since March 2008. He is married to his high school sweetheart, the former Vonita Gale Smith, and they have four children and four grandchildren.

Bennett received his B.A. in business information systems (cum laude) from Winston-Salem State University in Winston-Salem, N.C, and a B.A. in pastoral ministry from Simmons Bible College in Louisville, Ky. Bennett’s life motto of “Falling makes you focus” is a positive addition to LAC’s work on building resiliency and instilling self-efficacy into our mission-driven populations.

LAC’s Board President Roger Brown, Ph.D., welcomed Bennett to the board upon his election, noting, “Rodney’s enthusiasm and passion for youth will be a great asset to our team. We’re excited to have his expertise and look forward to his leadership with our existing board members.”
