Lexington Minority Business EXPO celebrates 16 years of success with annual event

LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 31, 2018) — The Lexington Bluegrass Area Minority Business Expo will be held Aug. 3 and will feature some of the best workshops and networking opportunities for minority-owned and women-owned businesses in the region.

“Our conference is unlike any other because we’re offering quality opportunities and addressing the real needs of minority businesses,” said Sherita Miller, EXPO co-chair. “And just like in the past we’re bringing in some dynamic speakers who will be addressing issues that directly affect small business owners.”

The EXPO’s morning speaker will be Ashley Daniel Bell, regional administrator for the U.S. Small Business Administration for Region IV. Bell’s job is to aid, counsel, assist and protect the interests of small business concerns, to preserve free competitive enterprise and to maintain and strengthen the overall economy.

At noon, Becky A. Davis, known as the “Entrepreneur’s Secret Weapon”, will discuss ways for business owners to accelerate growth and build their dream business.

EXPO doors will open at 7:30 a.m. with a continental breakfast. The event kicks off at 8:30 a.m. with a welcome from the co-chairs followed by the morning keynote from Ashley Bell. The day-long EXPO will also include several breakout sessions, a lunch, a book signing and several opportunities for attendees to visit exhibitor booths and network.

The EXPO will wrap up with the Business Opportunity Exchange, a targeted business matchmaking event that matches attendees to corporations looking for their specific products and services. The day ends with live music, food, beverages and more networking opportunities.

“We know the impact this EXPO is having on small businesses,” said Mike Runyon, EXPO co-chair. “This EXPO is opening doors of opportunity. It’s why business owners, large and small, keep coming back year after year.”
