Governor names magistrate, makes appointments to committees and commissions

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Sept. 10, 2011) – Gov. Steve Beshear has made the following appointment to Kentucky boards and commissions:

Gov. Beshear has appointed Delbert S. Stephens as Magistrate for the Fifth District of Harlan County to serve according to the provisions of Section 152 of the Kentucky Constitution.

·         Delbert S. Stephens, of Coldiron, is the director of parks and recreation for the Harlan County Fiscal Court. The appointment replaces Delzinna S. Belcher, who has resigned.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the State Advisory Committee for the Land and Water Conservation Fund to serve for terms expiring March 8, 2014:

·         Lisa A. Deavers, of Franklin, is assistant director of Kentucky State Recreation Parks/Historic Sites. The appointment replaces John Patrick Downs, whose term has expired.

·         James E. Parrish, of Frankfort, is co-director of parks and recreation for the City of Frankfort. The appointment replaces Charles L. Everett, whose term has expired.

·         Earl Wayne Farris, of Louisville, is territory manager at Hoosier Penn Oil Co. The appointment replaces Arnita Gadson, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the committee to serve for terms expiring March 8, 2014:

·         Noah Everett “N.E.” Reed Jr., of Brownsville, is the Edmonson County Judge-Executive.

·         Gary Williamson is mayor of Mount Sterling.

·         Nicholas C. Hazel, of Campbellsville, is assistant executive director of the Lake Cumberland Area Development District.

·         Carey Loomis, of Morehead, is a forestry technician at U.S. Forest Service.

·         Ernie C. Gouvas, of Bowling Green, is director of parks and recreation for the City of Bowling Green.

·         Jennifer L. Coyle, of Owenton, is a rural carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.

·         Gail K. Wright, of Mount Sterling, is executive director of the Gateway Area Development District.

·         Clay Cottongim, of Shelbyville, is director of parks and recreation for the Shelby County Parks Board.

·         Woodrow Wilson “Woody” Maglinger III, of Owensboro, is a community relations coordinator at Green River Area Development District.

·         Sandra T. Wilson, of Horse Cave, is executive director of the Hart County Tourist Commission.

·         Ralph W. Schiefferle, of Danville, is a retired state employee.

·         Charles Montgomery Haddaway IV, of Pleasure Ridge Park, is executive director of the Kentucky Recreation and Park Society. Haddaway shall serve as chair of the committee.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Judicial Nominating Commission for the 30th Judicial Circuit and District of Kentucky to serve for terms expiring Jan. 1, 2014:

·         Joel E. Zimmerman, of Louisville, is the marketing director at The Kidz Club. The appointment replaces Sharon E. Brown, whose term has expired.

·         Kenneth S. Berryman, of Louisville, is director of Capital South Investments. The appointment replaces Scott Douglas, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the commission to serve for terms expiring Jan. 1, 2016:

·         Tierra Kavanaugh Turner, of Louisville, is the owner and CEO of TKT & Associates Inc.

·         Margaret L. Harris, of Louisville, is a retired Bell South executive.

Gov. Beshear has appointed James C. Rogers to a pool to serve on the Transportation Cabinet Engineering or Engineering-Related Services Selection Committee.

·         James C. Rogers, of Frankfort, is a retired finance director. The appointment replaces Jeffery M. Hackbart, who has resigned.
