FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin announced Saturday night that he will run for re-election while speaking at the Republican Lincoln Day Dinner.

According to a story by the Lexington Herald-Leader, Bevin has not filed official paperwork for his run at this time and told the crowd he doesn’t want his re-election race in 2019 to distract from the current 2018 state elections. He said the official details and announcement of his campaign will be coming soon.

Democratic Attorney General Andy Beshear is the only other candidate to officially announce his candidacy. However, a crowded Democratic primary is expected with House Minority Leader Rocky Adkins, former State Auditor Adam Edelen, Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes and State Rep. Attica Scott all having indicated they are considering running for governor in 2019.
