LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Jeff Borkowski has been named chief executive officer of ClearPath Mutual Insurance Company effective Sept. 1.
ClearPath Mutual’s current CEO, Gregory L. Buie, will act as a consultant to the company until his retirement on Dec. 31.
“It has been a great honor to serve as CEO for ClearPath Mutual, and formerly KESA, since assuming control of the company in 1993,” said Buie. “We have made significant progress in growing the company over my 25 years of tenure, and I am very proud of our recent reorganization to a mutual insurance company. ClearPath Mutual is now perfectly positioned to continue its successful execution of the company’s top priorities.
“The ClearPath Mutual Board of Directors and I are confident that Jeff is the right person to assume control of the company and lead it to great heights,” Buie continued. “He is a seasoned leader with significant experience in all facets of the property and casualty insurance industry.”
Prior to joining ClearPath Mutual, Borkowski spent seven years with Brethren Mutual Insurance Company in Hagerstown, Md., in senior leadership roles.
Borkowski served as the commercial underwriting manager for four years and served most recently as vice president of underwriting and marketing. During his time with Brethren Mutual, Borkowski led multiple projects, including the successful implementation of predictive modeling and expansion into other states. He also worked as the company’s liaison with A. M. Best, state departments of insurance, reinsurance brokers, industry associations, and lobbyist groups.

ClearPath Mutual Insurance Company was formed on Jan. 1, 2018 and is located in Louisville. The company is a result of its reorganization from KESA, The Kentucky Workers’ Compensation Fund, which was a self-insured workers’ compensation fund. ClearPath Mutual has approximately 7,300 policyholders and nearly $60 million in premiums, making it one of the largest and most financially stable providers of workers’ compensation in Kentucky.
