Daramic is laying off some 90 workers from its plant in Owensboro, where it produces lead-acid battery separators for the automotive industry. The company said it has seen demand for its products decline along with the downturn in auto sales and is now experiencing “significant excess capacity.” The layoffs will go into effect in early January according to reports by The (Owensboro) Messenger-Inquirer, and represent approximately half of the existing workforce.
