Shovel ready: 300 construction and 150 professional/service jobs created
LEXINGTON, Ky., Jan. 31, 2012) – Christian Care Communities and The Joseph Group today broke ground for Ashgrove Woods, a new $30 million independent and assisted senior living community on the Fayette/Jessamine county line. With shovels in hand and wearing hard hats, public officials, community and business leaders joined with Christian Care and The Joseph Group for the ground breaking, signaling the start of the $30 million, one-of-a-kind development in Nicholasville, Ky., at 5220 Grey Oak Lane, off US 27 behind Brannon Crossing.
Designed to bridge the generation gap
“Ashgrove Woods is designed to bridge the generation gap and bring families together,” said Dr. Keith Knapp, president & chief executive officer of Christian Care Communities. “This distinctive independent and assisted senior living community is in direct response to Baby Boomers who are actively involved in caring for aging parents and need a community that fits and accommodates their active lifestyle, while also offering assisted living, adult day care, memory care and more, as the needs of the family change.”
The new 20-acre Ashgrove Woods will offer a range of housing options, including independent living homes and townhomes and private apartment homes with assisted living, interconnected through golf cart lanes and walking/biking trails. The new senior living community also will provide a wide range of care, including adult day care, memory care and rehabilitation services. The community will include a clubhouse, banquet hall, chapel, community garden and park.
A unique partnership
Further distinguishing Ashgrove Woods is the unique partnership between Christian Care Communities, Kentucky’s largest faith-inspired, non-profit provider of senior living communities and long-term care, and The Joseph Group, one of the most innovative and active real estate development companies in central Kentucky.
“Every ingredient for Ashgrove Woods was there,” said Charbel Joseph, founder of The Joseph Group. “The land is nestled within Kentucky’s beautiful horse country, with close proximity to regional and national retailers, restaurants and businesses. But to bring this development to life, we needed a leader in the senior living field and found that partner in Christian Care Communities.”
Construction on Ashgrove Woods will begin immediately, with the first homes scheduled for completion in the summer of 2012 and the assisted living complex in the spring of 2013. Prior to the ground breaking, three of the 72 lots already had been reserved by future owners.
“We’re beginning construction today because the need for an active senior living community with continuing care is now,” said Joseph, who noted that Baby Boomers and Older Adults comprise close to 40 percent of the population within a 10-mile radius of Ashgrove Woods. “As families grow older, Ashgrove Woods can help them grow closer.”
“The scope of this new senior living community reaffirms Christian Care Communities’ commitment to providing care when and where it is needed,” said Dr. Knapp. “It’s innovative and fitting as Christian Care continues to work to meet the growing needs of Boomers and their aging parents and to give them choices.”
The development’s architect is Studio A Architecture based in Louisville, Ky., with construction managed by Somerset-based Roberts Enterprises, Inc. The project will generate approximately 300 construction jobs and up to 150 full-time professional and service jobs. Financing was provided by First Capital Bank of Kentucky.
