Carbon Motors, a young company that manufactures high-tech police cars, has announced plans to locate its headquarters and manufacturing operations in Connerville, Ind., creating some 1,550 jobs.

The company is investing $350 million to site its production headquarters in a 1.8 million-s.f. facility that was previously occupied by Visteon, an automotive supply company.

Carbon Motors is applying for a federal loan through the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing Loan Program, which provides loans to automobile and parts manufacturers for the cost of re-equipping, expanding or establishing U.S. manufacturing facilities to produce advanced technology vehicles or qualified components.
