Homebuilders Association of Kentucky names Sanford new CEO/EVP

Anetha Sanford -Executive Vice President HBAK

Anetha Sanford has been named the new chief executive officer/executive vice president of the Home Builders Association of Kentucky (HBAK) after a nationwide search. The HBAK represents over 5,000 member companies in the housing, remodeling, and construction industry and has been in existence since 1957.

Anetha replaces Bob Weiss who will be retiring as the association executive vice president after 35 years.

“I am very excited about Anetha taking the helm of the Association,” said Weiss.  “I am convinced that she will take the organization to new heights.”

Her responsibilities include serving as the association’s chief lobbyist and primary representation to government officials on behalf of the members.  Together with the association leadership and board of directors, she will guide the strategic direction of the association and serve as a spokesperson for the industry.

“We selected Anetha because of her already proven success working in association management and government relations. Anetha has laid a path for the future and the Association looks forward to our growth under her leadership,” said Billy Doelker, of Key Homes, president of the Homebuilders Association of Kentucky.

Sanford brings nearly 20 years of real estate association and government relations experience. Prior to being named CEO/EVP, she served as the vice president of government affairs for HBAK since 2014.

Prior to her service at the homebuilders, Sanford spent 10 years at the Kentucky Association of REALTORS as the director of government affairs and also as the professional development director.

A native of Bowling Green, Ky., Anetha holds a bachelor’s degree from Western Kentucky University. She is also a graduate of the United Way’s Get on Board program.

Anetha currently serves as a board member of the Kentucky Society of Association Executives, KBC-LEO, and The Hearing and Speech Center. She is involved in Junior Achievement of the Bluegrass and is the Kentucky volunteer Family Empowerment Representative for Rettsyndrome.org.

Sanford and Weiss will transition the association leadership from now until the end of the year. Sanford will assume the role of CEO/EVP fully on January 1, 2021.

Anetha Sanford resides in Lexington with her husband Eric and their three children.
