Metalsa seeking skilled trades in addition to entry-level production technician positions

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. — Metalsa, the Mexico-based manufacturer committed to creating sustainable, socially responsible vehicle structures, is adding 300 jobs at its Elizabethtown, Ky., factory immediately. The new jobs are needed to meet the increased demand for the company’s signature product, which is vehicle frames for light- and heavy-weight trucks.

All positions are full-time, permanent openings for entry-level production technician. Qualified employees are able to receive a welding certification at no cost to them, and eligible union employees may also apply to an apprenticeship program that provides payment for further training in tooling or maintenance. In addition to the 300 production technician positions available, Metalsa is also hiring for skilled trades positions including maintenance and tooling, and salaried positions in operations, quality assurance, engineering and more.

“We aren’t just filling jobs. We’re building careers,” said Linda Aubrey, a member of the human development team at Metalsa. “We believe that our employees should be emotionally, mentally, and physically healthy in order to achieve their full potential, and we’re committed to helping them achieve that balance. We’re looking for employees who want to invest in us, and we’ll invest in them.”

In addition to competitive salary and opportunities for advancement, Metalsa employees enjoy full union benefits after 90 days, cash incentives of up to $1,500 for 180-day tenure, pension plan, a 401(k) match plan, employee referral bonuses, attendance incentives, and opportunities for overtime. Compensation begins at $15.29 per hour with raises at regular intervals and cost of living increases each September.

Founded in 1956, Metalsa has more than 60 years of experience in the automotive industry, and a vision to be an agent of change, not only in the industry, but in the world as a whole. Metalsa employs more than 10,000 collaborators in 20 manufacturing plants across North America, South America, and Asia.

The Elizabethtown plant is the second largest in Metalsa’s global system and the largest in the U.S. Employing more than 1,900 permanent and contract employees, the plant houses stamping, assembly, welding, and painting operations.

“We’re always excited when we get to announce that we’re growing our company, but in a year when so many families have been economically impacted through circumstances beyond their control, it’s especially gratifying to help put so many people back to work,” said Brett Barnes.
