MIDWAY, Ky.—Midway University will begin offering a bachelor of science degree in computer science this fall after receiving notification from its accrediting body, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), that it is approved to start the new program.
The new computer science bachelor’s program will be available to students starting this fall and offered fully in-seat. Courses will include topics such as programming, networking, cybersecurity and platform technologies, as well as a strong foundation of mathematics. Like every major at Midway University, there is a capstone project and internship required. Of the 120 credit hours required to earn the degree, 54 hours are specific to computer science.
Computer Science will be added to the majors available to Midway’s traditional undergraduate, on-campus student population.
“When adding new majors or minors, we look to what the demands are in our region and job opportunities available to our students once they earn their degree,” said Dr. Carrie Christensen, interim assistant vice president, academic affairs. “The area of computer science and technology-based programs shows good growth opportunities and matches our career-focused education.”

Midway announced earlier this year that tuition would not increase for the 2021-22 academic year, the fourth straight year of no tuition increases.
