Brown-Forman Corp., a Louisville-based spirits producer, has closed its sawmill in Albany, Ky., which provided wood for the company’s Blue Grass Cooperage facility in Louisville. In announcing the closure, Brown-Forman officials said increased costs had made the mill uncompetitive. The company has provided severance packages to the 25 workers affected by the closure.
