UofL secures victory in 2023 Gift of Life College Challenge

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Following an intense and highly competitive four-week showdown, the University of Louisville first ranked in the Gift of Life College Challenge by registering 447 new organ, eye and tissue donors. UofL will be presented with a trophy during the Battle of the Bluegrass men’s basketball game on Thursday, December 21.

This year’s competition united college students, faculty, coaches, staff and fans across both campuses to actively promote organ donation registration through on-campus events, social media campaigns, newsletter features and donor registry sign-up stations.

“We are so proud of both universities for coming in with a game plan to make this project a slam dunk and ultimately save lives by participating in this year’s Gift of Life College Challenge,” said Shelley Snyder, Executive Director of Donate Life Kentucky. “In the end, UofL pulled out in front, registering more donors, but the best part of this competition is that no one loses. Together, we are saving the lives of all Kentuckians, regardless of which team they root for!”

This year, the University of Louisville worked alongside various Cardinal athletes and UofL Health to spread awareness of the importance of organ and tissue donation, ultimately leading to registering more donors in the Commonwealth.

While this year’s Gift of Life Challenge has concluded, it’s not too late to register as an organ donor. Click here to register today.
