Film shot in Barren County gets state subsidy

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky’s film subsidy program is proving support to Rage Movie LLC, an entity created for the production of “Guns of Redemption,” a nearly $3 million film that was set for three weeks of production in April in Barren County.

Rage Movie LLC was granted a tax incentive for this project of just over $1 million from the Kentucky Entertainment Incentive (KEI) program.

“Guns of Redemption” expected about $450,000 of the nearly $3 million production cost would go toward paying Kentucky-resident production crew. They anticipated about 51 of the 60 production crew members will be Kentucky residents.

Directors/ producers Jamie Thompson and Brian Skiba were listed in the KEDFA book as the owners of the project.

“Guns Of Redemption” is a 2011 book by author Don Degraf, the third in a series whose earlier titles were “Guns of Justice” and “Guns of Revenge.”

Amazon Books describes it this way: “Guns of Revenge” is an action packed western with numerous gunfights from the first page to the last. The story takes place immediately after the Civil War with Cort Patrick’s home town being attacked by Bull Taggart and his men to revenge the death of Bull’s brother. Cort and his men then sought to wipe out Taggart and his gang to avenge the attack on his town. Bull led a band of southern guerilla’s who made Quantrill look like a choir boy. Cort and his men rode for the North and dogged Bull’s trail throughout the war making Cort and Bull mortal enemies. The story is one of action and revenge that was part of the tale of the west after the civil war.

According to information presented at the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) board meeting in March, the film project is about Luke, a mysterious man with a violent past that he cannot escape. While Luke is searching for a new life, his old enemies find him and shoot him down. Before he bleeds to death, he straps his guns on one last time to avenge the death of the Man of God who took him in and save the beautiful woman held captive in General Bork’s heinous web of evil.
