LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 28, 2012) – PNC Bank Tuesday named John L. Gohmann regional president for Lexington and Central Kentucky.

Gohmann will succeed Harry T. Richart, III, who will retire as the local PNC Bank regional president on March 30, following a successful, 38-year career in banking including 28 years with PNC and its predecessors.

Richart’s leadership in Kentucky banking includes serving as president of PNC predecessor National City beginning in 1997, following accomplishments as executive vice president of the bank’s commercial lending and retail banking groups.  A champion of the community throughout his career, Richart has served on boards and leadership positions in a number of organizations, including Commerce Lexington; the University of Kentucky Business Partnership Foundation; United Way of the Bluegrass; and the Downtown Development Authority.

“I have truly enjoyed my years in Lexington and Central Kentucky’s banking industry,” Richart said. “We have an exceptional team of employees that has always worked diligently to serve our customers, communities and shareholders. I am confident that John will continue to effectively lead PNC’s commitment to the region’s development and economic vitality.”

Gohmann has a wealth of business and leadership experience that includes 12 years of local financial services experience.  Prior to joining PNC as wealth management director in 2009, he was a client advisor at JPMorgan Bank’s private banking group where he managed client relationships. Gohmann also has been a registered representative with Smith Barney, and an attorney with the McCoy, Baker and West law firm.

Gohmann earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and management in 1989 from Centre College in Danville, KY, and a joint Juris Doctorate-Master of Business Administration in 1993 from the University of Dayton. He is a member of the Kentucky and Fayette County Bar Associations.
