Holiday art sale to benefit Kentucky Theatre renovation

19 local artists join forces in support of the Friends of the Kentucky Theatre

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 13, 2013) — A special gallery of fine local art is now on display at the Kentucky Theatre in the State Theatre lobby through Dec. 29 – just in time for the holiday gift-giving season. The artwork has been assembled by a generous and charitable group of 19 local artists who will donate 20 to 50 percent of all proceeds from the sale to the Friends of the Kentucky Theatre renovation campaign. A total of 23 works of art are on display and available for purchase.

Artists participating in the fundraiser include Whitney Baker, Anne Nave Bass, Neil Bell, Marcia Cone, Blake Eames, Madelaine Enochs-Epley, Anne Kindl, David Kring, Christine Kuhn, Marco Logsdon, Marianna McDonald, Guy Mendes, Anne Rutherford Pass, Pondell, Helene Steene, Lawrence Tarpey , Mary Wathen, Deborah Westerfield and Baron Wolf.

Members of the Friends of the Kentucky Theatre, a group of civic-minded citizens, are working to raise $1.5 million to pay for urgently needed upgrades for Lexington’s most famous and beloved movie house. A charitable fund has been established with Blue Grass Community Foundation, a 501 (c) (3).
