Kentucky Bluegrass & Bourbon Experience set for Labor Day Weekend

Three-day festival celebrates state’s musical heritage — and bourbon

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (May 23, 2014) – The Kentucky Bluegrass & Bourbon Experience returns to the Louisville Water Tower this Labor Day weekend on Saturday, Aug. 30 through Monday, Sept. 1.

rotate4The annual three-day festival known for celebrating the commonwealth’s musical heritage is one of the region’s most anticipated events on Labor Day weekend. The festival highlights Kentucky’s musical heritage, bringing together local and national bluegrass performers with traditional and favorite southern foods.

Back again to the festival is another Kentucky staple to the lineup – bourbon! The festival’s Bourbon Experience will be housed in an air-conditioned tent, allowing festival-goers to beat the heat while tasting a variety of well known and “craft” bourbons.

The 9th annual festival will also serve up the region’s best live bluegrass music and bourbon, along with a hearty lineup of burgoo, barbecue and beverage vendors. The festival is also home to an expansive vendor market showcasing authentic arts and crafts from across Kentucky.

The festival kicks off Saturday, Aug. 30 from 5 to 11 p.m. and continues Sunday from 5 to 11 p.m. The festival lasts through Monday, Labor Day, from 1 to 7 p.m.

Festival admission is $10 before 6 p.m. and $14 afterward. Admission is free for children 10 and under. Parking is free. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome, but guests must leave pets, food and drink at home.
