Governor makes appointments to boards and commissions

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Aug. 15, 2014) — Gov. Steve Beshear has made several appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions.

Appointed to the Kentucky Board of Social Work to serve for a term expiring June 21, 2018:

  • Sally E. Rhoads, of Lexington, is a licensed clinical social worker. The appointment replaces Anne C. Adcock, whose term has expired.

Reappointed to the board to serve for terms expiring June 21, 2018:

  • Hilma S. Prather, of Somerset, is a retired educator. She represents citizens at large.
  • Justin “Jay” Miller, of Louisville, is a professor of social work at Spalding University.

Reappointed to the Kentucky Commission on Proprietary Education to serve for terms expiring July 21, 2018:

  • Walter L. Lee, of Owensboro, is a retired principal. He represents the public at large.
  • Cindy Landry, of Louisville, is director of academic affairs and compliance at ATA College. She represents privately owned for-profit postsecondary educational institutions.

Appointed to the Public Pension Oversight Board to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending July 1, 2017:

  • Alison M. Stemler, of Shelbyville, is an attorney at Frost Brown Todd LLC. She represents  individuals with retirement experience. The appointment replaces Ronald J. Harris Jr., who has resigned.

Reappointed to the Pest Control Advisory Board to serve for a term expiring June 17, 2016:

  • Roy Shawn Rich, of Elizabethtown, is CEO at E-Town Exterminating Company Inc. He represents the pest control industry.

Appointed to the Kentucky Board of Ophthalmic Dispensers to serve for a term expiring June 30, 2018:

  • James H. Patterson, of Nicholasville, is a retired pediatric ophthalmologist. He represents physicians. The appointment replaces Gary Wortz, whose term has expired.

Reappointed to the board to serve for terms expiring June 30, 2018:

  • Granville C. Smith, of Louisville, is a retired optician. He represents ophthalmic dispensers.
  • Melanie A. Abner, of Nicholasville, is an optician at Drs. Ditto and Musick Eye Care Center. She represents ophthalmic dispensers.

Reappointed to the Kentucky Airport Zoning Commission to serve for a term expiring Aug. 8, 2018.

  • Albert B. Givens, of Mount Sterling, is a pilot at Justice Aviation LLC.

Appointed to the Reading Diagnostic and Intervention Grant Steering Committee to serve for terms expiring May 16, 2017:

  • Angie M. Madden, of Lexington, is a professor at Eastern Kentucky University. She represents university professors with expertise in reading and literacy. The appointment replaces Johnna Puttoff, whose term has expired.
  • Kristi Hale, of Eddyville, is an RtI specialist at Marshall County Schools. She represents the state at large. The appointment replaces Sharon Darling, whose term has expired.

Reappointed to the board to serve for a term expiring May 16, 2017:

  • LenaKay E. Wilson, of Richmond, is a teacher for the Madison County Schools. She represents primary teachers with expertise in reading and literacy.

Appointed to the Board of Certification of Alcohol and Drug Counselors to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending July 16, 2015:

  • Timothy Cesario, of London, is director of substance abuse services at Cumberland River Behavioral Health. He represents alcohol and drug counselors. The appointment replaces Patrick L. Whelan.

Reappointed to the board to serve for terms expiring July 16, 2018:

  • Theodore M. Godlaski, of Winchester, is an associate professor at the University of Kentucky. He represents alcohol and drug counselors.
  • Geoffrey D. Wilson, of Lexington, is director of business services at The Ridge Behavioral Health System. He represents alcohol and drug counselors.

Appointed to the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Advisory Council to serve for terms expiring May 9, 2018:

  • Stefanie Ann Bradshaw, of Louisville, is associate executive director at Village East Inc. She represents consumers. The appointment replaces Jan Scherrer, whose term has expired.
  • Kathy M. Balltrip, of Somerset, is executive director of Pulaski County Alzheimer’s Respite Center. She represents health care providers. The appointment replaces Darla A. Bailey, whose term has expired.
  • Jennye Grider, of Frankfort, is a program administrator at the Kentucky Department for Public Health. She represents state government agencies dealing with dementia. The appointment replaces Nancy Crewe, whose term has expired.

Reappointed to the council to serve for a term expiring May 9, 2018:

  • Deborah D. Danner, of Lexington, is director of education and outreach at the University of Kentucky.

Beshear has reappointed the following members to the Kentucky Heritage Land Conservation Fund Board to serve for terms expiring July 15, 2017:

  • Richard K. Kessler, of Campbellsville, is a professor at Campbellsville University. He represents the Kentucky Academy of Sciences and is designated as chair of the board.
  • Franklin D. Fitzpatrick, of Prestonsburg, is a property manager at Fitzpatrick Properties. He represents the Kentucky chapter of the Nature Conservancy.

Appointed to the Kentucky Commission on Military Affairs to serve for a term expiring July 16, 2018:

  • Richard A. Johnson, of Lexington, is an attorney. He represents members at large. The appointment replaces Thomas W. Baker, whose term has expired.

Beshear has reappointed retired Maj. Gen. Robert S. Silverthorn to the commission to serve for a term expiring July 16, 2018.

  • Retired Maj. Gen. Robert S. Silverthorn, of Louisville, is an attorney.

Appointed to the Kentucky Advisory Council for Gifted and Talented Education to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Dec. 15, 2016:

  • Tatiana Y. Adams, of Benton, is director of gifted services for the Marshall County Board of Education. She represents gifted and talented program coordinators. The appointment replaces Charlotte L. Jones, who has resigned.

Appointed to the School Curriculum, Assessment and Accountability Council to serve for terms expiring April 30, 2016:

  • Shannon Treece, of New Castle, is principal at Eminence Middle and High School. She represents principals. The appointment replaces Phyllis L. O’Neal, whose term has expired.
  • Anthony Orr, of Bardstown, is superintendent of Nelson County Schools. He represents superintendents. The appointment replaces Jerry T. Green, whose term has expired.
  • Catherine Anne Hacker, of Salt Lick, is a psychologist and district assessment coordinator for the Menifee County Board of Education. She represents school district  assessment coordinators. The appointment replaces Jana Beth Francis, whose term has expired.
  • Kevin Riddett, of Louisville, is CEO of freight and rail products, Siemens Rail Automation. He represents employers in the state. The appointment replaces Joseph L. Hicks, whose term has expired.
  • Helen M. Carroll, of Florence, is manager of community relations at Toyota. She represents employers in the state. The appointment replaces Carl H. Wicklund, whose term has expired.
  • Heather K. Wampler, of Louisville, is an administrative assistant at  Paint Spot. She represents parents. The appointment replaces David R. Higgins, whose term has expired.
  • Thomas Anthony Aberli, of Louisville, is principal at Atherton High School. He represents principals. The appointment replaces Jon R. Akers, whose term has expired.
  • Amanda Reed, of Elizabethtown, is assistant superintendent of LaRue County Board of Education. She represents school district assessment coordinators. The appointment replaces Jinger R. Carter, whose term has expired.

Reappointed to the council to serve for terms expiring April 30, 2016:

  • Holly Bloodworth, of Murray, is a teacher for Murray Independent Schools. She represents teachers.
  • Thomas R. Guskey, of Lexington, is a professor at the University of Kentucky. He represents university professors with expertise in assessment and measurement.
  • Terry L. Rhodes, of Mount Sterling, is a teacher at Montgomery County High School. She represents teachers.
  • Linda D. Duncan, of Louisville, is a member of the Jefferson County Board of Education and is retired from Jefferson County Public Schools. She represents local school board members.
  • Roger C. Cleveland, of Lexington, is an associate professor at Eastern Kentucky University. He represents university professors with expertise in assessment and measurement.
  • Brenda H. McGown, of Bowling Green, is a UniServ director for the Kentucky Education Association. She represents members at large.
  • Michael J. Borchers, of Covington, is superintendent for Ludlow Independent Schools. He represents superintendents.
  • Lisa S. Holland, of Lexington, is owner of Holland Management Services Inc. She represents parents.
  • William A. Owens, of Beattyville, is mission director and minister at Kentucky Mountain Mission Inc. and is chairman of the Lee County Board of Education. He represents school board members.

Reappointed to the Louisville/Jefferson County Tourist and Convention Commission to serve for a term expiring Aug. 13, 2017.

  • Sharon S. Potter, of Louisville, is a multimedia producer and civic advocate.

Appointed to the Mississippi River Parkway Commission of Kentucky to serve for a term expiring Aug. 10, 2018:

  • Norma Reed Pruitt, of Clinton, is executive director at Kentucky Great River Region Organization Inc. The appointment replaces Alma Blair, whose term has expired.

Reappointed to the commission to serve for terms expiring Aug. 10, 2018:

  • Lynn M. Lane, of Wickliffe, is Ballard County clerk.
  • Brandi Webb, of Bardwell, is finance officer for  Carlisle County Fiscal Court.
  • Levi T. Hodges, of Hickman, is administrative assistant for the Fulton County judge-executive.

Reappointed to the State Board of Podiatry to serve for a term expiring Aug. 22, 2018:

  • Robert G. Levine, of Louisville, is a podiatrist at Podiatric Physicians of Kentucky.

Appointed as the commonwealth’s attorney for the 4th Judicial Circuit of Kentucky, to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of David G. Massamore:

  • Kathryn Elizabeth Senter, of Madisonville, previously served as an assistant commonwealth’s attorney.
