UofL trustees approve goals, get audit update

Want to boost number of STEM degrees

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Oct. 10, 2014) – The University of Louisville Board of Trustees on Thursday approved 2014-2015 goals for the Office of the President in support of the university’s 2020 Plan.

UofLGoals set for the Office of the President include boosting the number of degrees and credentials awarded in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) fields; improved student retention; more research dollars for clinical trials; and launching a series of smaller, focused fundraising campaigns to target key strategic areas.

In an Audit Committee meeting prior to the full board meeting, Associate Vice President for Audit Services and Institutional Compliance Dave Barker gave an update on internal audit activities from April 2013 through August 2014. Barker said 241 issues were examined and most of them have been resolved. He also said additional efforts would be made to promote the compliance hotline number, such as sending a postcard to employees’ homes and putting the phone number on the back of newly issued employee identification cards.

The next UofL Board of Directors meeting will be Nov. 13.
