Groundbreaking on Monday for new senior center in Lexington

Event begins at 10 a.m.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 10, 2014) — Groundbreaking for a new senior center in Idle Hour Park will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday in Lexington behind Southland Christian Church on Richmond Rd.. Expected to attend the groundbreaking are Mayor Jim Gray, councilmembers, staff from the Department of Social Services, senior center patrons, EOP Architects and contractor Marrillia Design & Construction.

The facility, which will replace the current center on Nicholasville Rd. will focus on physical activity, recreation and health. By 2030, it is projected that 20 percent of the Lexington’s residents will be 65 years or older.
