Students awarded in national art contest

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 12, 2015) — A pair of Kentucky students were recognized in the American Association of Teachers of Japanese 2015 Nengajo “Year of the Sheep” competition, a national contest that asked students to create Japanese postcards sent as New Year’s greetings. The competition received 683 entries, honoring 42 winners in divisions for elementary, middle and high school and college.

Alina Broughman, a fifth-grader from Wellington Elementary School in Lexington won first-place in the in the Computer Graphics category in the elementary school division.

Phyla Aldrette, a junior at Eastern High School in Louisville was third among high school students in the Comical division.
